The EnviroVeg Manual

EnviroVeg is underpinned by an Environmental Management Practice resource – The EnviroVeg Manual. This resource includes up to date information on achieving sustainable vegetable production and, having recently been updated by technical experts, its content is reviewed to ensure it remains current and useful. Importantly, relevant R&D levy research outcomes are integrated into the resource-manual for the easy adoption of outcomes of effective environmental practices for vegetable production.

About the EnviroVeg Manual

The EnviroVeg Manual is compilation of information on good practices to enable the implementation of sustainable production techniques on Australian vegetable farms.

The Manual is designed to:

  • Provide an overview of management priorities for sustainable vegetable production
  • Address key environmental risks through practice recommendations
  • Enable the monitoring and recording of environmental management outcomes
  • Establish clear pathway to achieving recognised environmental certification
  • Identify quality, up-to-date resources and research for environmental production techniques
  • Function as a conduit between other EnviroVeg resources

The EnviroVeg Manual uses updated content from the EnviroVeg manual (Version 3, February 2014) to present information in an accessible, useful format. It is broken into management sections and can be viewed as a whole document or by individual sections. Aside from the Introduction, these are:

How to use this resource

Start with the self-assessment

By going through the self-assessment first, a feedback report will be produced that references the EnviroVeg Resource, taking you straight to the information relevant to you. The self-assessment is broken into the same chapters as the EnviroVeg Resource and links with the certification requirements of Freshcare Environmental. Work through each section to identify which areas and resources can be of most benefit to your business.

Assessment and benchmarking

Supporting the uptake of researched outcomes is the self-assessment, a process that identifies potential production and cost saving mechanisms, through efficient management of resources. The self-assessment is housed on a Hort-360 platform and is connected to supporting material within The EnviroVeg Resource and website through an individualised feedback report.
